My Top 10 Moments of 2011

I contemplated even going here; you know, trying to sum up 365 days somehow. It seems impossible! But, it’s the season of “lists”, so I thought I’d give it a shot. So here it goes, in to particular order…my Top Ten Moments of 2011.

1. Traveling out of the country for the first time. Punta Cana, Dominican Republic was a fantastic trip with my husband; full of adventure, relaxing, and sunshine!

My 1st Passport Stamp!

2. Celebrating a one-year wedding anniversary. People always say the first year is the hardest, if that’s the case, I think my husband and I are going to have a great life!

3. Family trip to Wisconsin Dells. Full of 500, water parks, food and fun!

4. Running my 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th triathlons. What a rush!!! I love the variety, training and race-day atmosphere of these events.

3rd Place!

5. Landscaping. I had so much to learn when it came to making a yard look pretty. I grew up mowing lawns, so that was the easy part. But when it comes to bushes, shrubs, plants and flowers…I was clueless. I learned so much and can’t wait to give it another shot this Spring!

6. Going to see Jimmy Buffett in Las Vegas. I’ve seen him a couple of times before…but Vegas style was a whole new experience!

7. Blogging. I started this blog in June and have enjoyed it so much. I love when people tell me, “I just love reading your blog”, but the truth is, I do it for me. That said, I have to admit, giving people something enjoyable to read is a really sweet bonus!

8. Being a Hawkette. It was so much fun dusting off my can-can kicks and performing again. It was something I loved when I was in high school, so proving to myself that I still had the moves was pretty awesome!

The Fabulous Iowa City Hawkettes!

9. Buying a bike. I hadn’t ridden a bike for years, let alone as an active sport. But being surrounded by friends that enjoy the summer evenings riding around and experience the famous RAGBRAI, my husband and I felt left out, so we decided to join the fun. Best. Move. EVER!

10.Discovering myself. I took a chance to make a professional; and let’s face it, life change this fall and story short, it didn’t quite work out. No regrets! I learned a lot about myself, my goals, and what drives me to succeed. Now it’s just a matter of channeling it all to find my next great [professional] adventure in life.

Which leads me to my New Years Resolutions…!

All I Want Now is…Summer!

Yessss!!!! I got the Sperry’s I asked for this Christmas from my Mom and Dad!! It makes me want summer, boat rides and sunsets in a bad way!!! Considering winter hasn’t been too bad here in Iowa, I can’t really complain.

And don’t you worry, I’ll totally rock these before summer, in fact, tomorrow sounds good!!

I had quite a scare the other day! I was buying my new running shoes to kick of 2012 at a local running shop where they evaluate your walk, arch, etc. and match you with the perfect shoe. Talk about service! Well it turns out the pairs the sales man provided me with were wider, to accommodate my bunions!!! WHAT! He ‘unofficially’ diagnosed that I have the starting formation of ‘the sixth toe’. This frightens me, my mother-in-law and uncle-in-law both have extreme bunions, so I unfortunately know what I’m in for! EK!

No Boys Allowed

I had a great time spending the last couple of days with my in-laws celebrating Christmas. To say I got lucky is an understatement! This year Grandma Mary Ann got all us girls some hand-knitted slipper socks. How cute are these? Warm and cozy too!

And now with the faces of all of us lovely ladies. You should have seen the process of all of us getting up and down! Classic!!

Can’t wait to do it all again next weekend with my family!

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas everyone!! I am truly blessed to have such great friends and family in my life.
I must have been a good girl too because I got this sweet Canon Rebel camera from my husband! I can’t wait to learn all about it and produce better quality photos for my blog!

Backstage Pass

I’ve mentioned before that I’m in a show this holiday season and I’m truly having a great time!

Our performance is at a local theater in town and it’s filled to the brim of costumes, clothing, accessories and supplies. I literally gasped the first time I walked down stairs. Having a space like this would be a dream, minus the consignment store smell. Check this out:

Pretty awesome, right!? My favorite item you ask? Why, the Dorthy hooker shoes of course!

OH la la!

Sh*t Girls Say

Pardon my language, it’s not my title! It’s the name of the most hilarious videos I’ve seen in a long time. Check them out!

Ahhh, they are funny because they’re true! I think the first one is a little bit better (sequels are always a challenge!). But honestly, they are both a great laugh. My husband thought they were great too, no shock there! 🙂
