That’s Tight!

Let me first clarify that for whatever weird reason, I despise pantyhose (although I break down and wear them because I’m a classy lady)…but I love tights. How does that even make sense!? As with many things, I suppose it’s because they are simply more fun. Here is a photo of my ‘tight’ drawer. Yes, a whole drawer. A bit in my defense…it’s the perfect size drawer for just this product. Not much else would fit as well!

I think tights are a great way to spice up your winter wardrobe. I can only wear pants so much before I get bored. It’s a great way to help bring those summer and spring dresses in to the winter and fall months too. Essentially, a $4 pair of tights can great 10 new outfits! Here is a nice cozy pair I sported this week:

We aren’t getting any ‘real’ snow here in Iowa, so I figured I might as well wear the snow! Ooooh, and cute boots too, right?!

Some Things Just Go Together

You know, like peanut butter and jelly or macaroni and cheese. Or in my case, Iowa Hawkeye Wrestling and Saved By The Bell. That’s right, this shirt combines two of my favorite things.
I’m a true product of the early 90s as I watched every episode of SBTB, more than once. I’ve also been known to beat anyone that challenges me in trivia. And no, I don’t even need Google!!

Ugly Duckling

So, I have to admit, I bought an ugly pair of shoes. I know, I know…’they don’t exist’….but they do. See below. These are common among show choir and dance performances, and that’s just why I bought them. That’s right, this old gal is dusting off her can-can kicks and doing a Rockette routine this month for a holiday variety show put on by a local theater group. I’m so excited for the opportunity!! It’s been a great addition of exercise to my weekly work-out routines and I’m just plan glad I can still dance like I used to!

I’ll Always Remember My First Time

Wow, get your head out of the gutters people!!!!! Shame on you!

I’m talking about the first time I bought the pair of shoes that turned me in to an official shoe fiend. I have thought long and hard about this, pretty much since I began this blog, and came to the conclusion it was this pair. I was a sophomore in college and went to Chicago with my roommate over Spring Break. We of course hit up Michigan Avenue and I spent $80 on these shoes. Remember here friends, I was 19 and not made of money…that was a lot for me at the time. Looking back, I have to say I’m proud of myself for picking a pretty rational pair. In fact, I still have these and still wear these, they look great with tights. They were also the shoes I wore in the interview that lead to my first job after college. See, it was fate that I bought them!

My First!

So essentially, this was the pair that started it all. Since then, shoe shopping has gotten better and better with age. I can think of many other special moments with other special people. I’ll make sure to keep reporting back. (Wow, if your head went back in the gutter, shame on you again!)

Mix-N-Mingle

I was inspired to try a look from Who What Wear. See the article here. My concept was a little different, I didn’t do so much day-to-night, but summer-to-winter. I think it works both ways!

Here is it goes:

My thoughts on the outcome? To be honest, I feel like I could have just worn a black skirt and gotten the same look. But again, this article was designed more to take the sweater layer off for an evening party…so I get that. But what I did appreciated about this experiment was the way it helped me look at my closet in a fresh way. That cute summer tank-top you miss wearing? Pair it under a blazer! Those cute shorts your still happy that fit as we move into winter hibernation? Put tights under them!

*Note, I’m sad you can’t see my shoes in the summer look. I was wearing my fantastic black and gold glitter heels, it really completed the look with the gold necklace!
