One Jacket, Two Ways

Congrats! You made it through the full week after a holiday break!!!

With lots of holiday shopping and festive parties coming up, I thought I’d share a fun little idea of taking a staple piece and showing how it can work as you conquer the mall during the day and toast with your friends at night.

Enter in, this awesomesauce (I make up words, deal with it), houndstooth jacket!

By day:

Jacket: jcp (honoring their new branding by writing it like that! ;)), Shirt: TJ Maxx, Jeans: Old Navy, Shoes: Naughty Monkey via Von Maur

By Night:

Jacket: jcp, Dress: Express, Tights: Gordman’s (fleece lined!), Shoes: Jessica Simpson, Jewelry: Cookie Lee

Enjoy the upcoming holidays in style my lovely friends! And don’t forget, the best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear; that never goes out of style! ;). (Yes, that was an Elf reference and yes, I’ve already watched it once this season!!)

Sock Bun

Okay, so I have to confess, I didn’t actually cut a sock like those that do this homemade style, but it’s the same effect! And I have to admit, I freakin’ love this look!!

My ‘hair doughnut‘ is from Claire’s. The goal is to upgrade from the mini to the small by summer! 😉

Cardigan: Ann Taylor, Turtleneck: Gordman’s, Scarf: Target, Jeans: 7’s via Von Maur, Shoes, Newport News

I’ve always loved these little kitten heel boots, a little spice to a black staple!

Entertaining Fun!

Phew, excuse the delay on highlighting the awesome weekend I had, it took me a couple days to recover! It wasn’t the typical Thanksgiving weekend, but i wouldn’t have traded it for anything. Here’s how it went down…

The hubs and I served the free community dinner on Thanksgiving.

Nom! Nom! Nom!

Soon after our house was filled with my sisters, brother-in-laws and BIL’s sister and hubby from Lincoln. Hawkeye-Husker game weekend assemble!!!! (Stupid iPhone alien eyes!!)

Go Hawks! Brrr, a blistering 34 with high winds!! I hate to say it, but I’m glad the season is over!

After sending our guests back to their cozy homes it was time to assemble for my BFF’s baby shower! I showcase to you, the lovely Mamma-to-Bee!

I couldn’t get a picture fast enough, our food was a hit!

Such a cute theme and the shower was great. I can’t wait to help welcome Baby C into this crazy world. For the record, my vote is a sweet little baby girl. 🙂

Now on to prep for the next round of holiday events, bring it life!!

On this Thanksgiving Eve, I wanted to share some more of my Thankful List from last year (Here, Here, Here, Here and Here) and to share the delicious spread from our annual Friendsgiving Feast! We had awesome food, great company and endless laughs. The dinner talk quickly matched the dishes at the end of the evening…dirty. Oh boy, I am blessed with some great, and silly, friends! 😉

Caramel Apple Martinis, Wine and Beer…yum!

So good! Turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, creamed corn, green bean casserole, snicker salad, and endless appetizers to get us started (as if we needed that!).

Caramel apple pie, Pumpkin pie, ice cream, cupcakes and cooooool whip!

I love my little pilgrim cupcakes. So easy! You’d still have time to make a batch for tomorrow, I promise!

Enjoy your day of feasting, friends and family.

Happy Thanksgiving!

THE Bubble Necklace

If you haven’t seen or heard of the bubble necklace, I hate to tell you, but your a little behind in the fashion scene. This necklace was made famous at J.Crew over the summer. I held out and was glad I did! I found one in a vibrant fall blue at my favorite local boutique. A win-win!

Shirt: Express, Jeans: Old Navy, Necklace: Purse-N-Ality, Shoes: Madden Girl

I’ve always loved these shoes, the colored trim-petal effect…I mean what’s not to love!

I had the wonderful honor of being a host for my niece again as she competed for Junior Miss Eastern Iowa over the weekend. I won’t leave you hanging, she won!!! Yay!

Here she is ready for opening number. No, this is not me 16 years ago, but I bet I fooled you for a second!

Here she is in very lovely party dress, minutes before we found out she won!

Shirt: H&M, Pants: Old Navy, Shoes: Nine West, Jewelry: Cookie Lee

I cant wait to see how your year goes Miss Maddie!
