Magic 8 Ball

Happy Halloween everyone!

We actually had our Halloween celebration at work on Monday. So I sported the ever-so-clever Magic 8 Ball custom. πŸ™‚ Quite different from last year, but equally as fun. Especially sharing my ‘answers’ with people on my back!

Happy trick-or-treating to all those kiddos, and adults, out there. I look forward to those that will come to my door tonight. I also get excited when I think about how next year I’ll have a little nugget to torture dress up in costume. YAY! πŸ™‚

Happy Retirement Dad!

My Dad walked in to his last day of work earlier this Fall. Can you imagine that feeling!? He spent 38.5 years as a lineman for Alliant Energy. It was hard work and the last couple years really took a toll on his body. Climbing poles everyday with 50+ pounds of equipment will do that to a person. But now he’s done!! My sisters and IΒ surprised him to walk out of the shop, one last time. I’m not sure who it was most emotional for!! πŸ˜‰.

His first task of retirement!? It was to enjoy his annual fishing trip to Canada, knowing he didn’t have to come back to work! πŸ™‚ I think it’s safe to say he’s ready…now just to decide which ones to pack (hey, I can relate when it comes to packing shoes for a vacation! ;)).20130909-072909.jpg

His second task? Prepare for one heck of a party!

Over 150 guests came to celebrate my Dad and Craig. I think that’s all we need to know about how awesome these two guys are!

Congratulations Dad. I can’t think of anyone who deserves the luxury of retirement more than you do. Thank you for showing me that hard work, dedication, and smart investing can lead to a great life full of everything you need…and some of the things you want too! May you always find enough fish in the waters and keep you busy. πŸ™‚

The Progression of the Bump

Did you know that women are actually pregnant for TEN months, not nine!? It’s a true story. The nine months kicks in from the time you find out…but when you find out, you are already 4 weeks along. Cruel, isn’t it!?

I haven’t had an update since Week 30. It seems like yesterday, yet it seems like ages ago! Regardless, I am still feeling really well. I’ve had a couple moments of heartburn and I find sitting and breathing somewhat challenging from time to time (as in both together…it’s a lot of pressure on the lungs!). But otherwise, I have no complaints. I still sleep really well, I still get my walking and yoga in, and I am getting more and more ready every day in case this little nugget decides to make an early debut. (Nothing is indicating that I will go earlier…but never say never!)

So here we are at the official 36 week (or 9 month) mark. I thought it was time to look at the bump growth. Wowza!! I avoid profile views at all costs at this point, but nonetheless, for the sake of documentation. Here we go…

5 weeks

5 weeks. Ahhh, I remember when that little beer pooch that never went away from college was just ‘awful’! πŸ˜‰

16 weeks

16 Weeks. This was the first time I sent a photo to my sisters and fellow prego friends. Pants still fit, yet I was starting to progress past that ‘beer gut’ phase!

18 weeks - Father's Day

18 weeks. Also, Father’s Day!! Obviously, I’m letting it all hang out here. But after posting this photo on social media I got a lot of ‘where did the bump come from!?’ comments!

20 weeks

20 weeks. The half-way point. Also, the 4th of July. So I made a fun little tank top to highlight my ‘firecracker’!Β

22 weeks

22 Weeks. Dresses were awesome this summer!

24 weeks - 6 mths

24 Weeks. Or 6 months. Wow, this seems SO long ago!! This was also the RIP day of wearing button downs. I still miss them dearly.

27 weeks

27 weeks. Also, our 3rd anniversary. No fancy dinner or anything for us that evening. Just a nice little walk to Dairy Queen and some love-you-baby conversation!

30 weeks

30 weeks. Officially on the single-digit week countdown!

32 weeks

32 weeks. Heading out to yoga for my weekly relaxation!

32.5 weeks

32.5 weeks. I just wanted to include a shot of the dadio-to-be. Because he’s pretty important in this whole crazy journey too!

34 weeks

34 weeks. Scarves are good for camouflaging the bump a bit!

IMG_553436 Weeks. Spent working on finishing up my grad school class for the Fall session.

And just for fun, and a little self-torture, let’s see that from start to finish….

bump to bump

Don’t forget, I still have a month to go people!!

Fat Guy In A Little Coat

You know what I’m talking about…this little infamous movie scene…

Welp, that’s pretty much how I felt busting out my winter jacket 9 months pregnant. I thought I’d make it without having to deal with this moment. But here in Iowa, our weather throws us for a loop from time to time. Like when it decides to turn 30 degrees in October!

So, this is what you get…Thank goodness for button coats. πŸ™‚

So on that note…cheers to hitting the NINE month mark!! We’re hitting the final countdown!

Showered With Love

Today was a special day. Baby L was showered with gifts and love and I’m so thankful for those who took time out of their busy lives to help us celebrate! It was a gorgeous fall day, so I took advantage with some great outside photos. Let’s let them do the talking, shall we!?

My lovely, lovely hostess! Thank you both so much. My “Ready to Pop” shower was so cute and fun! I especially loved the game of “Pair the Celebrity Mom with baby.”

GROUP SHOT! So blessed to be surrounded by such loving and caring women. And yes, the grandma’s-to-be found the babies of the bunch!20131013-204620.jpg

The future baby sitters….Baby L’s [girl] cousins!

My sisters and soon-to-be life-lines for panic new-Mom calls!! They have six kiddos between the two! Although, it’s been awhile since they’ve had newborns! πŸ™‚

The grandma’s!

My sister-in-law, who just had her second baby seven weeks ago. She makes post-baby look good!! She’ll also be on speed dial this winter!

The handsome Daddy-to-be! If this baby cookin’ is a girl and she has my dimples and his baby-brown eyes…I have a feeling all of his worst nightmares will come true! πŸ˜‰ We’ll find out soon enough. Five weeks and three days to go!

The loot*. It’s nice and condensed in these bags…but trust me when I say we hit the jackpot with goodies today and we are SO thankful. Plus…baby stuff is small! πŸ˜‰

*Not pictured: our killer travel system. I’m so excited for nice long walks with baby and dadio next Spring!
