Denim Blazer

Sometimes you follow trends. Sometimes you buy staples. Sometimes you buy because it was on sale.

This demin blazer fills all three of those. Blazers really made a come-back a couple years ago. As in, they were cool to wear to your interview AND out with the girls. I was, and still am, a big fan!

Anyways. I found this blazer on an awesome mark-down table for $20 and thought it would be nice and versatile. Boy was I right! So it was on sale, trendy at the time, but is now what I consider a year-round staple in my closet. It’s a great transition piece for Fall and Spring!

What are some of your closet staples for Fall?!

Fashion Fail

Ever buy something thinking you can totally rock it? Or buy something thinking it will push you a little out if your comfort zone? Or buy something because you are simply in a good mood? Yeah…I was all of those things when I bought this.

Note to self, brown suede is not my thing. Nonetheless, I gave it one wear so it wasn’t a total waste. It came together cute, but just wasn’t….me. That and my husband told me I looked like Pochahantas!

What’s been a fashion fail for you!?

One Jacket, Two Ways

Congrats! You made it through the full week after a holiday break!!!

With lots of holiday shopping and festive parties coming up, I thought I’d share a fun little idea of taking a staple piece and showing how it can work as you conquer the mall during the day and toast with your friends at night.

Enter in, this awesomesauce (I make up words, deal with it), houndstooth jacket!

Enjoy the upcoming holidays in style my lovely friends! And don’t forget, the best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear; that never goes out of style! ;). (Yes, that was an Elf reference and yes, I’ve already watched it once this season!!)

Belted Denim

In comes my favorite Fall purchase (thus far!;)) again. This time I used my denim shirt as more of a jacket/top layer.

Note my newest accessory, my pedometer!! I am participating in the wellness challenge at my company. It’s much harder than you realize getting 10,000 steps in a day! I’m not counting my runs, I feel like that’s kind of cheating. Today was my first full day and I’m only at 7750, and that includes mowing 3/4 of my yard (I ran out of daylight!). Boy…time to get moving!!!!!

Mix-N-Mingle

I was inspired to try a look from Who What Wear. See the article here. My concept was a little different, I didn’t do so much day-to-night, but summer-to-winter. I think it works both ways!

Here is it goes:

My thoughts on the outcome? To be honest, I feel like I could have just worn a black skirt and gotten the same look. But again, this article was designed more to take the sweater layer off for an evening party…so I get that. But what I did appreciated about this experiment was the way it helped me look at my closet in a fresh way. That cute summer tank-top you miss wearing? Pair it under a blazer! Those cute shorts your still happy that fit as we move into winter hibernation? Put tights under them!

*Note, I’m sad you can’t see my shoes in the summer look. I was wearing my fantastic black and gold glitter heels, it really completed the look with the gold necklace!
